Sylvia is an applied researcher who focuses on understanding user needs and challenges to define business opportunities and improve products. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Applied Psychology from Portland State University and B.A.s in both Psychology and Studio Art from Macalester College. Before joining Nerdery, she conducted health care research in state government and social psychological research in academia. With a mixed methods background and experience in a variety of data visualization platforms, she delights in creating visually compelling narratives to communicate research findings.
