Randal Ries is a principal advisor in the brand and market research team within IBM’s market development and insights organization. He manages IBM’s global workplace effectiveness research program providing continuous measurement of employee engagement, business transformation and understanding of company strategy. IBM’s measurement program leverages both quantitative and qualitative data from Web surveys, NPS, social analytics, digital analytics and text mining.
Prior to joining IBM, Randal was the principal owner of a Chicago-based research consulting start-up serving consumer and B2B Fortune 500 companies.
Randal has graduate degrees in quantitative methods in the social sciences from Columbia University in New York and in English language and literature from the University of Illinois at Chicago. His research interests include cultural differences, social capital, generational differences, social media/analytics and politics/polling. He is NY chapter leader in the Digital Analytics Association and president elect of the NY chapter of the American Association of Public Opinion Research (AAPOR).
